I am pleased to be able to continue as Chamber President for another year which allows me to continue with a number of ideas and projects that the Chamber hopes will benefit both our members and the local economy in General.
Some of these ideas include
- Weymouth Town Centre members are keen to promote Christmas Events within the town and work on this for the christmas lighting up ceremony and the possible return of Shownight with support from Weymouth Harbour Rotary looks encouraging
- In agreement with the local council we will hold regular meetings with senior officers to discuss topics of our choosing that could help benefit the business community.
- Further Surveys of people visiting the area, as to their reason for choosing Weymouth & Portland
- Supporting the Open 4 Business 2010 Events including the closing network event.
As a Chamber we are always keen to hear from businesses with fresh ideas to promote the area.
The economic downturn has clearly had an effect and will continue to do so over the year, it will be interesting to see how Government will deal with the issues and in particular following the General Election who will be in power to make those decisions.
I hope this year to make contact with as many chamber members as I can to make sure that as a Chamber we are serving our membership well. Please feel free to contact me if you wish to.
