A FEASTival of Chefs, Food & Cocktails
− FEASTival kicks off 8 weeks of great menus −
FEAST Weymouth kicked off with an array of chefs, food and cocktails at the FEASTival event in Hope Square. The eight-week dining event, now in its fourth year, is set to be bigger and better than ever, now including a cocktail menu. To celebrate the start of FEAST, FEASTival treated the crowds to incredible live cookery and cocktail demonstrations as well as food and drink stands from Dorset Food & Drink. A highlight was an impromptu song about pie from Hotch Potch Savoury pie owner, Alan Mash.
FEAST Weymouth is entirely supported by Weymouth BID and is promoted through the visitor website www.weareweymouth.co.uk.
Chef demonstrations included:
- Eric Tavenier – Les Enfants Terribles
- Carl MacShilton– Delicious
- Nigel Bloxham – Billy Winters
- Cj Lohez making cocktails – Mallams
- Adam Foster– Sea Beats
Amy Butcher, Little Peeps Parties owner commented:
“I had a few hours in between parties and had heard about FEASTival on the radio. Always keen to support local events and sample foods – my family and I set out for Hope Square. It was great to see that the great British weather hadn’t dampened the event – we enjoyed some cheese and chilli from the food stalls and watched a couple of the demos too. We are now looking forward to choosing where to eat and drink over the next two months!”
FEASTival Food Producers include:
Dorset Chilli Shop Dorset Chilli Shop is an award winning Independent Shop selling a wide range of chilli products produced locally by ourselves, and from other small UK producers. Ranging from mild to super-hot we have a selection of sauces, oils, salts, chocolate, snacks, jams and preserves to suit everyone. We also have a range of seeds, growing kits and more.
Hotch Potch Gluten Free Savoury Pies Hotch Potch Gluten Free Savoury Pies makes award-winning, high quality, gluten-free savoury foods, using fine local and free-range ingredients. The range includes flavoured Scotch eggs, tasty pies, tarts, sausage rolls, arancini and flavoured pastry.
West Milton Cider West Milton Cider produces award-winning fine West Dorset cider and apple juice. Lancombe Rising, a keeved naturally sparkling cider, is complemented by the range of full flavoured traditional draught and bottled ciders. All the cider is produced through slow natural fermentation, using quality apples with no added sulphites – and just a little alchemy!
James’s Cheese James McCall’s passion for cheese began in 1988 when, aged 16, he got a Saturday job with renowned cheesemonger James Aldridge of Beckenham, a perfectionist who “taught me everything I know…” Working with other great local cheesemakers, James has developed a range of award-winning washed rind cheeses.
Ken & Val Insley, from Weymouth commented:
“We read about FEASTival in the paper and were very much looking forward to it, especially as we only live around the corner. We watched Eric and Nigel’s demos as we are big fans of their restaurants. We were delighted to see Billy Winters had a FEAST menu this year as we have taken advantage of the FEAST offerings over the past couple of years. FEAST Weymouth is a great community event and FEASTival was excellent.”
