We hold various functions, none-the-least being to voice the opinions, concerns, needs and interests of our local business community. So we make it our business to be represented from where the best results can be achieved. We have constant contact with- and access to- all departments of Weymouth & Portland Borough Council, with attendance at relevant committee meetings. |

| Close
relationships We also enjoy good working relationships with Dorset County Council, Dorset Police, Open4Business, the Dorset Working Group for the 2012 Games, Weymouth & Portland Partnership and the Dorset Strategic Partnership. Such close and active participation gives the Chamber a strong role in assessing present initiatives and planning the future of this area. |

On average we have 6 members meetings each Chamber year, the year beginning at the February AGM. Normally meetings comprise a guest s peaker with guest speakers and debate. |
Although non-political, we enjoy a good relationship
with the MP for South Dorset, Schools Minister Jim Knight and with prospective
parliamentary candidates from all parties. Of major importance over
the next few years is the 2012 Games, with Weymouth & Portland being
the arena for all sailing events. Dorchester Chamber We share many business situations with our neighbours, Dorchester Chamber of Commerce, Industry & Tourism. It is only natural, therefore, that we maintain a close working and social relationship with them; strength in numbers in certain situations being wise. |

Our Social Committee makes sure we have fun and this includes the Presidents annual dinner-dance each January. From time-to-time we visit various eateries for a night out, a candlelit dinner on the Swanage steam train is always popular and sometimes we take on the Borough Council at skittles! |
