Networking and support for the smaller business
Bizzy offers a warm, friendly and supportive environment for those of us running very small businesses in the Weymouth and Portland area of Dorset.
Everything we do at Bizzy is about very small businesses. We share advice and stories, help find answers to problems and provide useful tips. We get to know the people running other small businesses in the area. We people find new customers, new suppliers and new friends.
Bizzy also welcome people who aren’t running a business yet, but are thinking of doing so. Through Bizzy you can meet others who’ve made the journey into working for themselves, or have turned a hobby into a small business.
What happens at Bizzy? We chat over tea and coffee, have informal introductions, and hear from one or more interesting speakers about a subject that’s relevant to small businesses.
Bizzy meets on the fourth Tuesday of the month, at Weymouth College, from 9.30am to 11am.
Bizzy meeting dates for 2018 are:
- 22 May
- 26 June
- 25 Sept
- 23 Oct
- 27 Nov
Bizzy is designed for the very smallest businesses – sole traders, people working from home and firms with only a couple of staff. It’s also great to people thinking of starting a business, or who have a hobby that they’d like to turn into a way of generating an income.
There’s no membership fee for coming along to Bizzy. It costs just £5, which covers the basics such as cost of the refreshments. It’s open to anyone who runs, or is thinking of running, a small business in the Weymouth and Portland area.
Bizzy is organised by the Weymouth & Portland Chamber of Commerce. However, you DO NOT need to be a Chamber member to come along. We want to support the smallest businesses in our area, and those thinking of starting a business.
The number of private sector businesses has grown by 49% since the year 2000. Almost all those businesses (99.3%) are small businesses. (Figures from the Federation of Small Businesses).
If they are to grow and flourish, those small businesses need help and support. That’s why we formed Bizzy – to help provide that support.
