Keynote Speaker Alison Smith, who has been with Jurassica from the start, and has joined the team from Memo, bringing with her a passion for the stories of the coast, supported by the expert networks of the Jurassica trustees and collaborators.
Both Jurassica and MEMO in their merger received funding totalling £1.3 million secured by Dorset LEP through the Government’s Local Growth Fund. Dorset LEP supports the merger and recognises its economic benefits to Western Dorset and the wider area.
In a new partnership with the Eden Project, Memo/Jurassica has secured funding to develop a planning application for a £15.8m visitor attraction housed within an impressive underground network of mine tunnels. This will be passing to this new team whose mission and mandate is to create a focal point for the Jurassic Coast. The new Memo partnership group will take forward the ambition to secure and display a world-class collection of fossils from the coast, and to bring this iconic period to life with spectacular immersive experiences; a vision that can be delivered in the dramatic spaces of Jordan’s mines.
Julie Ward who is operational lead for Weymouth College apprenticeship team will be attending as a speaker. She will give an update on apprenticeships and how Weymouth College can support businesses.
She will also bring one of the current employers and their apprentice – the employer is ASM. This will become part of the events schedule planned for National Apprenticeship Week.
