Last chance to take part in consultation on proposed Weymouth town council
There’s just one week left to go to have your say on proposals to set up a town council for Weymouth.
Weymouth and Portland Borough Council’s consultation on the proposals ends on Friday 1 September.
This reason for the proposal is because local government in Dorset could be about to change. A separate proposal to replace the nine existing councils with two new unitary councils has been submitted to the government and we are waiting for their decision.
If this goes ahead, Weymouth and Portland Borough Council will not exist in April 2019. Weymouth would also be virtually the only area in Dorset not supported by a town or parish council.
