New members of Weymouth and Portland Chamber of Commerce South West IT was formerly known as Coastal Computing and occupied office premises on Portland Road since 2005 when owner Andy Hardy set up the business. In 2006 Adam Comben joined the company and over the next ten years the business grew steadily into the newly formed South West IT which it is known as today. Andy Hardy, co-owner of South West IT said “When we decided to expand the business we needed to find high quality commercial premises with exceptional IT connectivity. Our first choice was to call Mickey Jones of DJ Property as many of our business colleagues had welcomed his advice and guidance in the past. Mickey came up with the suite of offices at Oxford Court which means we now have a larger offices plus an integrated meeting room. We have also recruited an Operations Manager and Senior Technician to help with the financial side of the business and to ensure that our commitment to customer service is maintained and improved. We not only build relationships with our customers but also form loyal friendships built on trust and reliability – we treat customers how we want to be treated. Mr Hardy went on to say “We not only supply IT services all over Dorset but also throughout the UK, we even look after one of our client’s properties in the South of France – our client base is diverse”.
Adam Comben, co-owner of South West IT said “The business continues to grow, and we are investing in the future by moving to our new offices. We are now working with a lot of hospitality businesses offering support and service contracts especially in bars, pubs and restaurants. We keep our products and services affordable and as IT is constantly changing, our customers rely on us to keep their businesses up to date, safe, secure and IT compliant.”
Well established WPCC member Mickey Jones, Chief Executive of DJ Property, said “I was delighted when Andy approached me for advice about the business expansion. The South West IT business model is an interesting one and it was essential that they found the right offices, at the right price in the right location. The UK IT sector is growing very fast and it is essential that we have good support businesses, such as South West IT located on the Granby Industrial Estate. I predict that South West IT will quickly become one of the go-to businesses on the Granby Industrial Estate and this further underlines its reputation as the number one business location in South Dorset”.
South West IT employs 4 full time members of staff and is looking to expand over the next few years. The business works closely with Wessex Aerials in Weymouth and together they provide CCTV for Dorset County Council and many local authority buildings.
