WEYMOUTH & PORTLAND CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, INDUSTRY & TOURISM

PRESS RELEASE: 20 MARCH 2008 IMMEDIATE RELEASE

IAN BROOKE ELECTED HONORARY LIFE MEMBER OF THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

Weymouth commercial photographer Ian Brooke has been elected an honorary life member of Weymouth & Portland Chamber of Commerce, Industry & Tourism.

Recently retired from full time business, during which he has covered hundreds of local weddings and thousands of local events, Ian has been a loyal member of the Chamber for 20 years. He was a popular President in 1997 and again in 2000.

George Afedakis, the current President of the Chamber, presented the framed certificate of Honorary Life Membership to Ian Brooke during the "Meet the President" evening at the Prince Regent Hotel. "We recognise your loyalty and service to our organisation over many years," said George. "It was with great pleasure that the Chamber’s Executive Committee voted unanimously to make you an Honorary Life Member. Our hope is that we will continue to see you at Chamber meetings, at which you will always receive a great welcome."

For once, Ian Brooke was rendered lost for words, but afterwards said he was greatly honoured to receive such an accolade from the Chamber on his retirement. There are only five Honorary Life Members of the Weymouth & Portland Chamber.
