Great Yarmouth visit other resorts on a work study each year and have chosen Weymouth for this year. The Group of approximately 40 consists of local businesses, councillors, BID levy payers and staff from the BID and council.
This is planned for the 26/27/28th September 2017 with a seminar workshop on the morning of the 27th at Weymouth Pavilion with councillors, tourism officers and others in the tourism trade. Those interested in attending should contact the BID Office.
Great Yarmouth will visit attractions on route and Weymouth BID with support from WPBC and Tourism Partnership will be organising a tour of Weymouth & Portland on the Wednesday afternoon.
Karen Young Projects Manager at Great Yarmouth Tourism and BID said “Since 2000 a delegation of private sector operators from Great Yarmouth have joined public sector representatives on an annual visit to resorts across the UK and Europe. The mission; to learn more about how other resorts manage and promote themselves. Over the last 15 years discussions have sparked new ideas and new projects that have been implemented including a major regeneration project and our Business Improvement District (BID). This year the visit is to the resort of Weymouth in Dorset who are in the process of renewing their BID in 2018 so we will be very keen to hear about their experience in the run up to their BID ballot. Many lessons are shared between the resorts and have proved invaluable to both host and guests.”
