From 3 October – 14 November, Weymouth and Portland are being turned into a giant game where businesses, schools and community groups can join in as teams. It’s called ‘Beat the Street’ and is being run in partnership with Sport England and Public Health Dorset.
Maps, details and videos explaining how to play are available here:
Businesses can create teams to encourage their colleagues to take part by heading out during lunch breaks, on their way to and from work or at the weekend. They tap their Beat the Street card onto sensors, known as ‘Beat Boxes’ that record their journey and award their team with points. The aim of the game is to get to the top of the leaderboard. Asda and the Land Registry in Weymouth have already created teams and we want other businesses to join in too. If you would like your business to have a team, please email: email@example.com, with your name, your team name and an email address and your team will be set up. It means when people register their cards they can select the team from the drop down list so their points automatically go to their team.
