WPCC JULY NETWORKING BREAKFAST EVENT 2026

Sponsored by Blanchards Bailey LLP

Business Succession, Business Relief and Risk: You’ve spent years building your business. Have you protected it against the events you can’t predict?

Join us at Oliveto for a welcoming morning of networking, fresh insight and valuable local business conversation.

At this Weymouth & Portland Chamber of Commerce event, two specialist Partners from Blanchards Bailey LLP will explore some of the most common risks facing business owners and directors, and the practical steps that can help protect both the business and the people behind it.

  • Emma Needham, Partner and Head of Wills & Estate Planning, will explain recent changes affecting Business Relief, and how business owners can use Wills and succession planning to support the future of their business. Emma will also touch on Business Lasting Powers of Attorney and why they are becoming an important consideration for business continuity planning.
  • Laura Martin, Partner and Head of Family Law and President of the Dorset Law Society, will discuss how divorce and separation can impact a business, including ownership, valuation and future decision-making. She will outline practical measures that can help business owners protect their interests and reduce potential disruption should personal circumstances change.

Whether you run a family business, own shares in a company, or are planning for the future of a growing enterprise, this session will provide valuable insight into protecting what you have worked hard to build.

We will also hear from:

  • Simon Pearson MCIOF, Head of Charity at Dorset County Hospital Charity, and Sally O’Neill, Communications and Marketing Manager at Dorset County Hospital Charity, who will provide an update on Dorset County Hospital’s new £100 million Emergency Department and Critical Care Unit, due to open in 2027, and the Charity’s £2.5 million Emergency and Critical Care Appeal. They will explain how the appeal will fund enhanced facilities and state of the art equipment, and why support from local businesses will play an important role in helping deliver the best possible care for patients across Dorset.

Alongside the speaker programme, there will be plenty of time to meet other local businesses, catch up with familiar faces and make valuable new connections. Bring your business card or flyer and add it to our new networking board. It’s a great way for everyone in the room to see who’s attending, helping you make the right connections and make your networking even more effective.

The breakfast is open to both Chamber members, who benefit from discounted tickets, and non members. Ticket prices include a full English or vegetarian breakfast, together with hot and soft drinks, at Oliveto, the popular Italian restaurant overlooking Weymouth Bay beside the Pier Bandstand.

Please email info@wpchamber.co.uk if you have any specific dietary requirements.

We look forward to welcoming you to the event.
