Big Bang @ Dorset Fair

Earlier this year, Dorset Council hosted the Big Bang @ Dorset Fair 2019 at The Tank Museum, Bovington and are delighted to confirm that they’ll be doing it all again next year!

Next year’s event will take place on Wednesday 18 March and is offering businesses and organisations the opportunity to take part.

Big Bang is a programme of UK-wide events that get students excited about science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM subjects). This year’s event was a real success – over 1,700 students attended the event which was supported by 40 businesses and organisations.

What is Big Bang? Big Bang is a programme of UK-wide events that get students excited about science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM subjects). This year’s event was a real success with fun-filled shows, hands-on exhibits, interactive workshops and a wide range of careers information from local and national employers. Over 1,700 students attended the event which was supported by 40 businesses/organisations.

How you can get involved

Helen Heanes, Principal Economic Development Officer at Dorset Council, said “We’re looking for 40 businesses/organisations to take part in the 2020 event too. You’ll meet students from first and secondary schools right across Dorset. Each business/organisation will be provided with an exhibition space. We’ve found that the most popular exhibits are those that are interactive – something to spark the students’ interest and encourage them to stop and find out more about what your business/organisation has to offer employees.”

On-line registrations will be opening in mid-August. This year there will be a small charge to take part, with these fees going towards the transport costs for the schools. Sponsorship opportunities will also be available.

The Big Bang @ Dorset Fair is part of a UK-wide programme led by EngineeringUK to bring science and engineering to life for young people. This event has the support of Dorset Council, CSW, Dorset Chamber of Commerce & Industry and the Tank Museum.
