Bluebird Coaches celebrate 95 years business

Award winning Bluebird Coaches are hosting an Open Day on Sunday 29th September at Weymouth Football club grounds to celebrate 95 years in business. The Open Day will commence at 11am and will continue until 3pm. The invitation is open to anyone who would like to join in the celebrations, view the very latest Bluebird Coaches and hear all about the Bluebird Holiday programme for 2020. Visitors will be able to enjoy a complimentary cup of tea and a slice of celebration cake, there will also be a FREE shuttle service and return from the Kings Statue K1 (just outside the Bluebird Coaches office on the Esplanade in Weymouth) to the Football ground from 11am. Free parking is also available at Weymouth Football Club.

The company has grown significantly over the past 95 years, brothers Stephen and Martyn joined the family business during the 1980s both working in the workshops and driving coaches, their sister Elaine worked alongside her mum, Margaret in the Weymouth Office on the Esplanade. Bluebird Coaches continue to offer Private Hire, day tours, holidays and school contract work as well as managing corporate contracts for Bournemouth and Weymouth football clubs.
Bluebird Coaches appointed a Tours Manager in 2001 which led to the production of the first full colour holiday brochure and a larger holiday programme. In 2012 the business was proud to be involved with the Olympics transporting Police Officers from all parts of Dorset to their duties around the Sailing events. In 2013 the business was delighted to welcome the fourth generation of the Hoare family, in the form of Martyn’s Daughter Gemma as Commercial Manager.

Earlier this year Bluebird Coaches won the medium fleet Coach Tour Operator Award in the national British Coach Tourism Awards and more recently Bluebird Coaches have been shortlisted in the Small Coach Operator of the Year (up to 15 vehicles) category in the Route One Awards. The winners will be announced at an Awards dinner and presentation evening, which takes place on Wednesday 2 October at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole.
Martyn Hoare, Managing Director of Bluebird Coaches, Weymouth said “The whole Bluebird family is honoured and very proud to be celebrating 95 years in business, and I am looking forward to celebrating in style with our family, staff and customers on 29th September. It will be a special day where we can thank our staff and customers for their support and loyalty over the years”.
