Nothe Fort Senior Volunteer opportunities

Senior Opportunities for Volunteers at Nothe Fort

Nothe Fort is perhaps Weymouth’s most popular visitor attraction with 50,000 visitors a year. It is managed by eight paid staff and over 100 volunteers, and is an accredited museum. It is operated as a Charity by Weymouth Civic Society.
Nothe Fort Trading Company is a separate legal entity that undertakes any fund-raising activities that do not fall within the charity’s remit. It is 100% owned by Weymouth Civic Society.

To maintain our success into the future, we are looking for experienced and committed people to undertake the following roles:
1) Chair Elect of the management committee;
We are ideally looking for a person with some experience of running a charity utilising the expertise of paid staff and volunteers to enhance the visitor attraction, although recognise that other experience and skill sets may be just as appropriate.
It is envisaged that the Chair Elect will shadow the Chair with a view to taking over as Chair in Spring 2020.

2) Assistant Volunteer Liaison Officer (VLO)
This role supports the Volunteer Liaison Officer who is responsible for recruiting, inducting and monitoring about 100 volunteers. He/she will need to keep records relating to all of them, interacting with them to ensure they are comfortable with their tasks, and ensuring they do not leave without due recognition. He/she will also arrange occasional social activities.

3) A Director of the Nothe Fort Trading Company (NFTC).
Nothe Fort Trading Company was established in 2017 to undertake any fund-raising activities that do not fall within the Charity’s remit. All of its profits support Nothe Fort. There are currently four Directors who would welcome an enthusiastic additional director
You would be joining a dedicated team of paid staff and volunteers who keep this exciting museum and visitor attraction open.

Application by letter or email by 31st July 2019 to the Chair, Brian Martin
