Nothe Fort wins tourism award for Weymouth

Nothe Fort won ‘Best Small Visitor Attraction” at the South West Tourism Awards and dedicated the recognition to its team and to Weymouth.

“Weymouth has an incredibly well recognised tourist brand that we should all be proud of. We were one of several local organisations to be recognised in these awards. Let us all enjoy what it feels like to live in a winning town,” said James Farquharson, Chairman of Nothe Fort.

He continued, “Nothe Fort’s award entry focussed on how we opened safely last year, proving to others that it was possible. I’d like to thank our current team, which rose to the challenge of Covid splendidly. I’d also like to thank previous generations of volunteers and staff whose legacy was a strong organisation able to make changes and thrive.”

Nothe Fort is not going to rest on its laurels. Its managers are planning to refresh the story it tells its visitors, including a five-year plan to invest in the building and modernise its displays. Through this, it hopes to win more recognition for the town in the future.
