100% pass rate AGAIN for Weymouth College’s A Level students

Following an unusual year of study – which saw students and staff work with and adapt to the often changing limitations and restrictions imposed by the pandemic – Weymouth College are particularly proud to be celebrating another year of outstanding student achievement.

100% pass rate for the A Level Class of 2021

A Level course results were published across the country today and the College’s A Level students have achieved an outstanding overall pass rate of 100% in all 14 subjects – including 39% achieving A*- B and 79% achieving A*- C with the following subjects, Sociology, Physics, Geography, Art and Design and Chemistry achieving 100% A*- C. This demonstrates and recognises that the College continues to maintain an excellent level of performance alongside a strong national pass rate.

Head of Academic Studies, James Foster, said:

“We are really proud of our sixth form (A Level, AS level and BTEC Science) students – and our staff – who have all coped remarkably well over the last year under extremely challenging circumstances. Their ‘can do’ attitude, hard work and diligence has really paid off!
“Our students have shown great resilience and grasped every opportunity to secure their learning and achieve the grades they need for their next step – be that an apprenticeship, employment or university”

Of this year’s Weymouth College A Level cohort, 91% of students applied to university and 100% of those students received offers from their chosen universities.

This year Weymouth College students are continuing their studies at a wide range of universities nationally including Bath Spa, Oxford Brookes, Durham, Winchester, Reading, Brighton, Westminster, Ravensbourne and Bournemouth. This year we have our first applicant for Digital Film Production, alongside applicants for Linguistics, Wildlife Conservation, Psychology, Law, History and English Literature.

These results confirm that the College continues to provide successful paths into Higher Education.

Weymouth College Principal and Chief Executive Designate, Julia Howe said:

“Firstly, a huge congratulations to the Weymouth College A level students of 2021, what a great achievement in such a challenging year. Our students have shown great resilience and commitment throughout and thoroughly deserve to celebrate their successes. I hope they can now look forward to their future plans, whether at University, on an apprenticeship, studying Higher Education here at Weymouth College or moving into employment.”
“We are so proud of all our student achievements. This of course, is also an opportunity to reflect and thank our teaching and support staff – yet again, another year of adapting and delivering through uncertain times – a great team effort”
