First of the year Chamber meeting success

With 50 members actually booked in for the WPCC Breakfast meeting on the first Tuesday of the month and despite a number of no-shows the meeting was a great success.

After welcoming everybody our current President addressed the main item of the agenda:- the proposal from the Executive “To delay the February AGM until a later time in the year”. The exceptional reasons were explained by Craig and can be seen on the home page of the website.

Members present voted unanimously in favour of the proposition; so the current President and Chamber Executive will continue for now.

All members are encouraged to consider joining the Executive and further details can found here – or email in**@wp*******.uk

Craig thanked everybody and encouraged all businesses to pay the discounted £49 membership fee for the year from March 1st; invoices are now being despatched. The Chamber needs financial support to represent and support local business. He went on to emphasise the benefits of joining the Chamber.

Our keynote speaker Sarah Barnett, from Weymouth College Employer Services, then told us about National Apprenticeship week from 8-12 February and the work they are doing with students and businesses. Natalie Merry, Director of Employer Services, is producing a series of podcasts over the week with support and advice for employers. The culmination of all the events work is a online breakfast meeting for employers. Sarah said, ” Please do join us next week for our employers breakfast we would love to see you all, just email me and I can ensure you have the details”. sa***********@we******.uk

Craig finished the meeting as sponsor with a great insurance/network local story which was not interesting but also a great insight into the power of networking and choosing the right insurance cover.

A suggestion that Members present would like to introduce themselves and their business received a great response and below are many of those:

“We are different to other groups as we have adapted our group with the changing times so with that, we have many different chat rooms starting to suit our members. Fitness classes, hair tutorials, sport rooms, cooking tips and just general chats with like minded people.
