Good News from Alison Fox Counselling Services and Tranquillity Retreats Weymouth

For those of you who don’t know me, I moved from Jersey in 2016 and transitioned my counselling, psychotherapy and training business to Weymouth.

I had worked via e-therapy for several years, working with clients across the world and could see how online working, would increase.

By re-locating to Weymouth, my husband and I were able to purchase a property, which would be flexible enough, to house our various businesses and give us the freedom to travel more easily. Over the past 5 years, we have renovated the property, to suit our needs and now have dedicated spaces for each business.

During the beginning of the pandemic, I like many other people, lost a lot of business, however this was not to last, as sadly the impact of the lockdowns and COVID 19, had such a huge impact upon the mental health of the nation and I have seen a continued increasing demand for my professional help.

In my therapy work, I specialise in helping clients manage stress/anxiety, depression, OCD, relationship problems and complex trauma cases.

Fortuitously, I trained as an Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) practitioner in 2020, EMDR is a powerful therapy designed to help people recover from traumatic events in their lives. It is recognised by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE).

I’ve seen a high degree of success working with PTSD and the symptoms of historic trauma of all types and feel privileged to be able help a wide range of clients, recover their mental health, reduce stress levels and improve their relationships with themselves & others.

I balance this with teaching Mindfulness and working as a clinical supervisor, supporting & training the next generation of counsellors & psychotherapists, nurses, doctors, social workers, support workers and ministers of all denominations and faiths.

As part of our overall vision, we planned to offer self-contained accommodation. This of course, without realising how staycations were going to be the go-to in 2020/1. Since opening in July 2020 the accommodation has been fully booked each weekend, we have made it available. We have had visitors from all over the UK and imagine we will start to see more international visitors next year.
