Weymouth Yomp and Chomp inaugural tour.

President Craig Oakes joined the very first Yomp and Chomp – Weymouth walking tour set off from Hope Square in Weymouth with several enthusiastic participants; Claudia Moore and Helen Toft from Weymouth BID; Graham Perry, Director of Weymouth Museum; Andy Cooke Director at Be Social Ltd and the host of the Love Weymouth website.

This new walking and eating experience in Dorset, was developed by Tina Cresswell and Glenda Sprake who already run award winning food and heritage tours in Southampton.

The unusual name ‘Yomp’, is military slang to walk, and ‘Chomp’ means to eat with gusto. We did both Yomping and Chomping around the streets of Weymouth. Tina was dressed in Regency costume to embellish the local heritage of Weymouth as a resort.

We stopped first at The Ivy Coffee house run by Sally and Steve to taste their divine homemade apple cake. Next, we had fish tasting at the Marlboro hosted by Craig, Shaun and Zac. Arriving at the Sausage Factory we were entertained by Dennis Spurr and were offered Dorset sausages. Roly’s fudge provided some delicious sweet treats, and finally were welcomed to the Black Dog by Bev Smith to hear tales of murders most foul and to try the Black Dog Ale with Dorset Blue Vinny Cheese, Dorset coastal cheese and locally produced ham with Dorset Chutney. The consensus was we all should have skipped breakfast.

Yomp and Chomp Weymouth two-hour tours commence on April 9th 2019 leaving from Hope Square at 12.30 and 3.30. For further information or to book your tour visit; www.yompandchomp.com or email bookings@yompandchomp.com
