FORTUNESWELL CANCER TRUST RECEIVES A FESTIVE DONATION FROM LEADING COMMERCIAL PROPERTY DEVELOPER

It has now become a tradition for local commercial property developer DJ Property, to donate at Christmas rather than sending Christmas cards to hundreds of valued customers and suppliers.  Chief Executive, Mickey Jones now prefers to say “Merry Christmas” in a different way, and this year has donated £500 to the Fortuneswell Cancer Trust.

Dr David Evans, committee member and ambassador for external relations at the Fortuneswell Cancer Trust said “For over twenty years, the Fortuneswell Cancer Trust has been improving facilities for local cancer sufferers. Amongst our activities are purchasing equipment, funding specialist nurse training, newspapers for chemotherapy patients and major projects. Our latest appeal is to raise about £800,000 to refurbish the chemotherapy unit, and we will use this generous donation to help this appeal, and we are extremely grateful to Mickey Jones and his mother Kate for thinking  of the Fortuneswell cancer Trust at this time.”

Fortuneswell Cancer Trust is a registered charity that seeks to improve the services to cancer patients in Dorset, mainly through Dorset County Hospital.  With no paid staff – the Trust is run by Trustees and a Committee with other volunteers helping when necessary.   The running costs are minimal, so donations really do help cancer patients locally.  The Trust has the full support of Dorset County Hospital Management.

Mickey Jones of DJ Property said “2019 has been a good year for many South Dorset businesses, and at DJ Property we work hard to ensure that we visit as many of our customers on a regular basis and therefore I can say “Merry Christmas” to most of them personally.  It is important that community organisations and charities are always supported by the local business community but especially at this festive time of year. The reason we chose the Fortuneswell Cancer Trust as our charity this year, is because they provide a vital service in the community. We are a local family business and it gives us great pride to support such an important cause.”

DJ Property continues to invest and develop commercial property in Weymouth at Link Park, Granby Industrial Estate and South Dorset.
